It does not matter that Saddam Hussein did not have WMDs the very basis of the casus belli
It does not matter that we bombed Iraq and Serbia's infrastructure on the first day and Russia took six months.
2003: Operation "Shock and Awe" over Iraq's capital city, 31 countries from the "free world" took part. @Partisangirl
These things do not matter because We are the Light.
Binary Thinking works in a Unipolar World where the Adversary is a Paper Tiger because Might is Right and You have a lot more Might. When the Adversary is a Nuclear Power with WMDs, the situation is not binary, its multi sided and non linear.
Surkov published a short story, ‘Without Sky’ set in the future, after the ‘fifth world war’ and in it he explains complexity
Because everyone could understand it wasn’t our fault we lost the sky ... The Marshalls of the four coalitions chose our sky for their great battle. The sky above our village was the best in the world. Flat. Cloudless. The sun poured over it in a smooth river. I remember the sun well. And the sky.
It was the first non-linear war. In the primitive wars of the 19th and 20th centuries it was common for just two sides to fight. Two countries. Two groups of allies. Now four coalitions collided. Not two against two, or three against one. No. All against all.
And what coalitions! Not like the ones you had before ... It was rare for whole countries to enter. A few provinces would join one side, a few others a different one. One town or generation or gender would join yet another. Then they could switch sides, sometimes mid-battle.
Their aims were quite different. To take over a disputed coastal shelf. To forcefully introduce a new religion. Raise ratings. Try out new lasers. To stop humans being divided into men and women as gender differences undermine the unity of a nation.
I would argue that Manichaeism has created a Mass psychogenic illness (MPI), also called mass sociogenic illness, mass psychogenic disorder, epidemic hysteria, or mass hysteria, involves the spread of illness symptoms through a population where there is no infectious agent responsible for contagion |
